I picked up this book because it was written in verse, and I saw the author on a panel at the library's Children's Book Festival (at least I think it was the same lady). It is the journal of a teenage boy who's mother attempted suicide. His psychiatrist suggests he keep a journal to help him deal with all his feelings. I read it in about an hour, and while it is obviously not a light-hearted book, I really liked it. It was interesting to see how the boy dealt with his experience of finding his mother, and learning to let go of a lot of his negative feelings. Because it is free verse, everything is very understated. That's how I like stories like this. And it does have a happy ending of sorts. I really liked it.
