58. Over Sea, Under Stone by Susan Cooper

This is the first book I've finished in a long while. I've been watching a lot of TV, alas a story for another day. I actually listened to this book and I loved it. The first time I read this book was when John and I were first married. At the time, I was teaching 7th grade English during the day and John worked a shift at the computer lab from about 3pm to 11 pm. We just missed each other every day and I had a lot of time to kill at night. Anyway I started reading this book, which is the first book in the "Dark is Rising" series which is highly recommended in Young Adult Literature. Anyway, one night I was reading this book and I started to freak myself out. It was a little scarier than I was planning on. And I was all alone in our little apartment. It got bad enough that I had to put the book down and do something else. Anyway, so I think the bad guy in this book is a little creepy, and I think it had to do with my being pregnant and alone at night and the book being about this guy who is chasing these little kids. But I still really like this book and this whole series. It is right up there with Narnia and Harry Potter and any other fantasy series. It is based on Arthurian legends and Welsh myths but takes place in modern day. It is really clever and I can read it over and over. And the recording of it is very well read. I would highly recommend it. And it is really not that scary, just don't read it on a dark, stormy night.
