This book is a beautiful story about a man who puts an ad in the newspaper for a wife and mother for his children in late 1800’s Kansas. Sarah, plain and tall, is the lady who answers. She is an older single lady from Maine. She agrees to come and visit for a month to see if it will work out. Of course it does. The story is told through the eyes of the 10 year old daughter. It is just a great story and the writing is stark but beautiful. I read this book for the mother –daughter book club that I go to with Kate at the library. We like going. Kate loves it and it has been some good one-on-one time with her.
